Introduction of major themes of the Quran, how Quranic text has been
historically interpreted and understood, how it should be done in the contemporary
modern world, the process by which the text of the Quran has been transmitted to
successive generations of Muslims and how it has been maintained
free of inaccuracies.
Some simple definitions and concepts from coding and information
theories to judge the accuracy and completeness of texts will be reviewed and
then used to show that the current Quranic text is a complete and accurate
word by word rendering of the original as it was revealed to the
Prophet (pbuh) and dictated by him to his companions.
Discussion on Quranic injunctions about the blessed month of
Ramadan and fasting during it. Review of various 'ayahs' of the Quran that deal
with various aspects of fasting and explanation of the importance and
significance of Ramadan in the Islamic calendar.
Continue discussion on the blessings of the month of Ramadan with reference to
specific Quranic injunctions about the month of Ramadan and fasting during it.
This part concentrates on the importance and significance of the "Lailat ul Qadr".
Discussion about the conflict between the viewpoints represented by “Creationists”
and “Evolutionists”. The discussion will comprise of two sessions. The first session will serve
as an introduction to the subject, i.e., how the conflict started and what makes it continue,
presenting the views of the two camps, and closing by an introduction to the Qur’anic viewpoint.
Discussion about Hajj (pilgrimage) and Eid Al-Adha. In his presentation
Dr. Reda will discuss the Epic story of the events from the lives of Prophets Ibrahim (Abraham),
Ismail (Ishmael) and Ishaq (Isaac), peace be upon all of them, which are celebrated every year,
from a Quranic as well as a Biblical perspective.
Discussion on the workings of court systems in the contemporary world of Islam, in light of the
normative concepts of Justice in Islamic Jurisprudence that are contained in the guidance provided by the Quran
and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
